In Karachi, a water tank cleaning certificate does not come from KMC or from the water utility. For commercial premises the requirement arrives indirectly \u2014 through SFA hygiene inspections, hospital and hotel audits, and the vendor or tenancy contracts that larger companies sign. The certificate is issued by the cleaning company, so it is only as credible as the work behind it. A cleaning that justifies a certificate follows these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The certificate itself should be on company letterhead with a stamp and signature, and should state the property address, the cleaning date, each tank’s type and capacity, the method and disinfectant used, the technician’s name and the next due date. A handwritten receipt or a WhatsApp screenshot will not satisfy an auditor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    KWSC’s own guidance, repeated in July 2026 during its Naegleria prevention drive, is to clean underground and overhead tanks in homes and residential buildings every six months, and to dose stored water with one chlorine tablet per 1,000 gallons.     The monsoon, roughly July to September, overrides any schedule.
